  • What should you do in the case of theft or loss of your credit card?

    In case of any theft, unauthorized transaction or fear of fraudulent use on your card, you can permanently block your card using any of the options -

    1. SMS BLOCK XXXX to 9223172141 from your registered mobile number (XXXX is the last 4 digits of your card)

    2. Log in to the Bank of Baroda Credit Card customer portal or mobile app -> Go to Menu & Select the 'Card Block' option and immediately block your card following the screen instructions.

    A maximum of 9 accounts held in the same name and same capacity can be linked to a debit card. Please submit a request for linking multiple accounts on your debit card to your base branch.

  • My debit card doesn’t work on ATMs.

    Debit card does not work on ATMs due to some of the following reasons

    • The debit card may be blocked.
    • The debit card may not have swiped the card properly.
    • The Debit card might have got damaged/deteriorated due to which it is not accepted by the ATM where the card reader may be weak. In such case you may try at another ATM and if still does not work, request for a new card to your branch. You may also apply for debit card through bob World (Mobile Banking) / Baroda Connect (Internet Banking) /Contact Centre.
    • Account may be inoperative or frozen at the branch level due to some reason. Please contact your branch to know the account status.
    • Customer may be using the wrong PIN.
    • Connectivity from the ATM has failed. In such case, please try after some time or use another ATM.

    • Soft blocking:After 3 attempts of wrong PIN in a Day (within 24 hrs.), debit card will be blocked for the next 24 hrs.
    • Hard Blocking:After 12 attempts of wrong PIN in a MONTH, debit card will be blocked permanently.

  • Channel wise details for hot listing of Debit Card by the customer through corresponding channels?
    • Contact centre/toll free numbers 1800 5700.

      Steps to be followed:

      1. Press 2 to Continue.
      2. Press 1 Lost Card Option.
      3. Press 1 to Continue for Blocking the Debit Card.
      4. Press 1 to Block the Debit Card.
      5. Enter 14-digit Account number.
      6. Enter last 4-digit of the Debit card.
      7. Press 1 to confirm the Blocking of Debit Card.

      SMS of blocked Debit card will be sent at your registered mobile number.

    • Mobile banking (bob World).
      1. Login to Baroda bob World.
      2. Click on “Cards” given on the bottom of the home page.
      3. Select “Debit Card Hot listing”.
      4. All the Debit Cards (debit card in OPEN status) linked with customer ID will be displayed with BLOCK CARDbutton provided below each card.
      5. Click Block Card for the debit card to be blocked.
      6. Enter transaction PIN and click Okay.
      7. Card will be blocked instantly, and the customer will get success confirmation POP up on the screen and Text message on the customers registered mobile number.
      8. To unblock the debit card customer will have to request at his branch.
    • WhatsApp banking.
      1. Say “Hi” to Bank of Baroda’s WhatsApp Banking Number 8433 888 777.
      2. Select Block Debit Card option.
      3. Now, select card number for blocking.
      4. Click confirm to block card.
      5. Card blocked successfully.
      6. SMS triggered to customer registered mobile number.
    • Net banking (bob World Internet)
      1. Login to bob World Internet.
      2. Click on “Services” tab.
      3. Select “Service Requests”.
      4. Select “New Requests”.
      5. Click on “Operative Accounts”.
      6. Select “Block Debit Card”.
      7. Select the debit card to be blocked and click continue.
      8. Select reason of Blocking, enter remarks and transaction password.
      9. Click “Submit”.
      10. Card will be blocked instantly, and the customer will get confirmation on the screen.
      11. To unblock the debit card customer will have to request at his branch.
    • Nearest Bank of Baroda branch.

    Request for blocking of debit card can be submitted by visiting any nearest Bank of Baroda Branch.

  • My debit card doesn’t work for online or international transactions.
    • As per recent guidelines, at the time of issue/re-issue/renewal, all the debit cards will be enabled for use only at contact-based points of usage (viz. ATMs and Point of Sale (PoS) devices) within India. Existing cards which have never been used for online/International/contactless transactions shall be mandatorily disabled for this purpose. To enable channel use BOB ATM/ bob World (Mobile Banking)/ Baroda Connect (Internet Banking)/IVR.
    • Kindly use your card for the first transaction on BOB ATM or Green PIN generation through BOB ATM/ bob World (Mobile Banking)/Baroda Connect (Internet Banking)/IVR and then try of online transactions.

    The Accidental Death and Total Disability cover is provided by NPCI. Below are the variants that are eligible for the same:

  • How can one transact at an ATM?

    For transacting at an ATM, the customer must insert (swipe) their card in the ATM and enter their Personal Identification Number (PIN).

  • What is a Personal Identification Number (PIN)?

    PIN is the numeric password for use at the ATM. The PIN is separately mailed/handed over to the customer by the Bank while issuing the card. This PIN has to be reset to a new PIN by the customer. Most Banks force the customers to change the PIN on the first use.

    The PIN should not be written on the card, card-holder etc., as in such cases the card can be misused. if it’s lost/stolen.

  • What should one do if he forgets PIN or the card is sucked in by the ATM?

    The customer may contact the card-issuing bank branch and apply for retrieval/issuance of a new card. This procedure is applicable even if the card is sucked in at another bank’s ATM.

  • What should be done if the card is lost/stolen?

    The customer may contact the card-issuing bank immediately on noticing the loss to enable the bank to block such cards.

  • Is there any minimum and maximum cash withdrawal limit per day?

    Yes. Banks set the limit for cash withdrawal made by customers. The cash withdrawal limit for use at the ATM of the issuing Bank is set by the Bank during the issuance of the card. This limit is displayed at the respective ATM locations and also in the user guide provided to the customer.

    For cash withdrawal at other bank ATMs, Banks have decided to maintain a limit of Rs. 25,000 per transaction. This information is displayed at the ATM location.

  • Do Banks levy any service charge for use of other Bank ATMs?

    No charges are payable for using other Banks’ ATM for cash withdrawal and balance enquiry, as RBI has made it free under its ‘Free ATM access policy’ since 01/04/2009. But banks can restrict the number of such free transactions to a maximum of five per month. For transactions beyond this minimum number of transaction, Banks charge maximum of Rs. 20 per transaction.

  • What should be done in case during the cash withdrawal process, cash is not disbursed but the account debited for the amount?

    The customer may lodge a complaint with the card issuing Bank. This process is applicable even if the transaction was carried out at another Bank’s ATM.

  • How many maximum days would the bank require to re-credit the account for such wrong debits?

    As per the RBI instructions, Banks may re-credit such wrongly debited amounts within a maximum period of 12 working days.

  • Are the customers eligible for compensation for delays beyond 12 working days?

    Yes. Effective from 17/07/2009, Banks shall have to pay customers Rs. 100 per day for delays beyond 12 working days. This shall have to be credited to the account of the customer without any claim being made by the customer.

  • In case the compensation is not credited as mandated, what recourse does the customer have?

    For all such complaints customer may lodge a complaint with the local Banking Ombudsman, if the Bank does not respond.

    After receiving funds from the purchaser, the card will be activated within 24 hours. Thereafter, the card can be used at any merchant location or internet for shopping.

  • How do I secure my card against unauthorised payments at merchant outlets?

    You are required to sign on the charge slip (produced by the Electronic Data Capture machine at the time of purchase) to complete a transaction at the merchant outlet. The merchant has to match this signature with the signature available on the reverse of the card. Transactions at merchant outlets are thus protected by the user's signature. We recommend that on receipt of the Gift Card please ensure to sign on the signature panel immediately.

  • How to prevent unauthorised usage in case the card is misplaced or lost?

    As soon as you know that the card is misplaced or lost, you must immediately report the loss of the card to our customer care toll-free number 1800 102 5627. Our team would immediately hotlist the card after ascertaining your identity and prevent any further usage.

  • What is a debit card?

    Debit card is an electronic purse, which allows the holder to withdraw cash from ATMs and also enables him to purchase goods or services from the member establishments. Debit cards are mostly issued in collaboration either with Visa or MasterCard.

  • What is Bank of Baroda’s debit card?

    Bank is issuing globally, accepted debit card in association with Visa, which will be the easiest way to access a customer’s account. A debit card will allow the customer to purchase goods at Visa electron merchant establishments and withdraw cash from any Visa ATM in India and abroad. It is a 24 hours banking facility.

  • What is the difference between a debit card and a credit card?

    The basic difference between a debit card and a credit card is that the debit card gives the customer access to his own money, whereas the credit card is a form of loan and allows a line of credit offered by the Bank. In the case of a debit card, there will be online debit to the customer’s account, there is no hassle of receiving bills, making payments on due dates, making payment of interest on the amount not paid, etc.

  • What should a customer do on receipt of a debit card?

    Customers are advised to immediately sign on the panel on the back of the card. However, to prevent any possible misuse, even before delivery of card to a customer, it has been made mandatory that the customer should first use the card at ATM, which requires PIN to be entered. Debit card will be activated for use at POS only after it is used at ATM.

  • What is PIN?

    PIN is a four-digit Personal Identification Number, which is issued to the customer in a closed jacket and is delivered to him separately. Customers are requested to ensure that the PIN jacket is received by them intact, and they are also requested to change their PIN immediately. Under no circumstance, the PIN should be divulged to anyone including to any official from the Bank.

    At Bank of Baroda’s ATM network, customer will be able to withdraw cash, make a balance enquiry, change his PIN and print a mini statement of his account. However, at all other banks ATMs he will be able to withdraw cash and enquire the balance only.

  • Whether there are any charges for using card at ATMs?

    There will not be any charges for using the card at Bank of Baroda’s own ATM network. However, if the card is used at other banks’ ATM, whether in India or abroad, customer is required to pay the charges as per tariff of charges, which will be declared by the Bank from time to time.

    There will not be any charge for using the card at the POS, either in India or abroad except a nominal service charge is levied, if the card is used at petrol pumps and Indian railways.

  • How the amounts withdrawn abroad or purchases made outside India are debited into the account?

    Normally the cash can be withdrawn and payments for purchases can be made up to the amount of balance available in the account of the customer. However, for safety reasons, the Bank has fixed a per day limit of Rs. 15,000 for withdrawing the cash at ATMs, and Rs. 25,000 for making purchases at the POS, subject to a maximum of balance available in SB account. These limits are also subject to using the card maximum of four times in a day.

  • Are any formalities required to be completed by the Bank for international transactions?

    No, the customer is required to use the card as per his/her foreign exchange entitlements only and necessary formalities as required under FEMA 1999 are to be complied with by the customer.

  • What will be the mode of payment in case of a debit card?

    The account of the customer will be debited instantly to the extent of purchases made and the amount withdrawn from the ATMs. Therefore, there will not be any monthly outstanding as in case of credit cards.

  • If the customer returns the goods to POS or cancels the transactions, will the account be credited online?

    In case he cancels the transaction immediately, the customer’s account will be credited immediately. However, if any customer returns the goods later, merchant will make the payment to our base branch through the acquirer. Switch will pass on the credit to the customer’s account thereafter.

  • What is the procedure to be followed in case of loss of debit card?

    In case of loss of card, customer will be required to report the loss immediately over phone to our 24-hours customer care toll-free number 1800 220 400. He/she will also be required to report the loss to nearest police station and inform the Bank in writing along with a copy of information duly acknowledged by the Police.

  • How can a customer prevent misuse of the card in the event of getting it misplaced?

    Customers are protected from the misuse/losses on the debit card after they report the loss to the Bank. They will be covered automatically under an insurance cover. Please note that this cover will be available to customers only for misuse of the card at POS, because at the ATM, misuse without a PIN is not possible. Customer is neither supposed to divulge his PIN to anyone nor record the PIN anywhere.

  • How do I secure my card against unauthorised payments at merchant outlets?

    You are required to sign on the charge slip (produced by the Electronic Data Capture machine at the time of purchase) to complete a transaction at the merchant outlet. The merchant has to match this signature with the signature available on the reverse of the card. Transactions at merchant outlets are thus protected by the user's signature. We recommend that on receipt of Reloadable Card please ensure to sign on the signature panel immediately. Also, ensure the merchant is dipping the card in POS machine instead of swiping it at locations where EMV reading capability is present with merchant. Doing this will require you to enter your secret PIN to complete the transaction.

  • How to prevent unauthorised usage in case the card is misplaced or lost?

    As soon as you know that the card is misplaced or lost, you must immediately report the loss of the card to our customer care toll-free number 1800 102 5627. Service provider team would immediately hotlist the card after ascertaining your identity and prevent any further usage.

    ATM PIN (PIN) is a unique 4-digit secure number assigned to a card and known only to the customer. It allows you to withdraw cash from VISA ATMs (charges are applicable). Customer is advised to change and memorise the PIN as soon as he/she receives a new card.

    As soon as you sense that the card or card related data (like PIN) is compromised/stolen, immediately call the customer care centre and request to block the card. Lodge the lost/stolen card complaint with the local law enforcement authority. Raise request to replace the card.

    Alert SMS is sent one month before the expiry of card to the registered mobile number of cardholder to utilise the funds available. Cardholder also has an option of revalidating the card within three months from the date of expiry. If the customer fails to utilise the funds before expiry of card and revalidate the card, remaining fund (if any) will be transferred to the linked account of the cardholder.
